This oil sketch demonstrates the fluid plein air style of Leader’s later years and may depict the Worcestershire countryside where he spent his final years. Leader’s paintings can be found in many prominent collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Tate Gallery in London. Leader, considered among the finest Victorian landscape painters, was a member of the Royal Academy and recipient of the Legion of Honor.
